Stand Outs From the Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration

Here are my stand outs based on the game demos I played from the 2024 Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration

For the Chill Builders:

  • Tiny Glade: If you love building cozy hamlets and sprawling castles without the pressure, Tiny Glade lets you lose yourself in a charming medieval world.

  • Gourdlets: This adorable city builder lets you zoom in and decorate individual buildings, making it perfect for those who love the finer details. Plus, the new idle mode lets you keep your city humming while you tackle other tasks. I hope that they release a mobile version.

For the Story Seekers:

  • Tavern Talk: Play as an innkeeper in this D&D inspired visual novel mixed with the cozy vibes of Coffee Talk.

  • A Perfect Day: This mind-bending visual novel offers a deep narrative with a Groundhog Day-esque twist. It's been out since 2022, but if you haven't played it yet, check it out!

For the Chore & Farming Fanatics:

  • SunnySide: SunnySide offers a familiar farming experience with a unique twist: a Sims-like third-person perspective and innovative use of a cellphone in-game. Bonus points for the inclusive character customization!

  • Trash Goblin: A delightful blend of puzzle, shopkeeper management and storytelling. Uncover hidden trinkets, clean them up, and maybe even give them a new life through upcycling. This is the perfect game to relax and unwind with.

For the Strategists:

  • Of Life & Land: This challenging city builder throws you a curveball – you can't micromanage your citizens' jobs. It's a refreshing change of pace for seasoned colony builders.

  • Baladins: Fans of For the King rejoice! Baladins offers a similar turn-based strategy experience with a dash of silliness.
